  1. What are Wiley InterScience® OnlineBooks™?
OnlineBooks are electronic versions of Wiley book titles that are available on the Wiley InterScience Web platform. There are no fixed packages; this is a pick-and-choose pricing model. You customize your collection on a title-by-title basis from the more than 2,270 wiley InterScience titles available.

  2. What titles are available?
Ask your EBSCO sales representative for the latest list.

  3. How much do OnlineBooks cost?
Two pricing options are available ? One-Time-Fee option and Flexi-Subscription option.

Under the One-Time-Fee option, OnlineBooks are priced the same as the hardback/cloth version of the book. The One-Time-Fee option is just that, buying once for ongoing access to all works purchased.

Under the Flexi-Subscription option, the unit cost of each book is $60, $70 or $80, based on the customer’s Full-Time Equivalent (FTE). The Flexi-Subscription option provides one calendar year’s access to subscribed titles. Once you have subscribed to the same title for three consecutive years, you will be provided with ongoing access to that title for no additional fee. At renewal you can add, delete or swap out any title, subject to a 20-title minimum.

Both options allow additional titles to be added at any time.

  4. Are there any associated costs?
If you elect to host your OnlineBook content locally rather than on the Wiley InterScience platform, Wiley will charge a nominal fee to load and provide this content to you. This is not a flat fee and will vary depending on the size of the content.

  5. What discounts are available?
Volume discounts (ranging from 2.5-20 percent) are available under the One-Time-Fee option and are based on FTE and the number of titles ordered.

  6. Under the One-Time-Fee option, how will Wiley’s discounts based on the quantity of titles ordered be managed if I decide to add more titles later in the calendar year?
Titles added later will be discounted according to how many books you have already purchased in that calendar year (e.g., if you are an institution with less than 10,000 FTEs, have purchased 20 titles initially and then decide to add 100 titles later, you will be given a 15 percent discount off the additional titles ordered in that calendar year).

  7. Under the One-time-Fee option, can I exchange titles I have purchased for the most recent edition of the same title online?
No. You will need to purchase new editions separately (as with print).

  8. Under the Flexi-Subscription option, if I swap a title out on renewal, can I get credit for the number of years subscribed (if under three) and have this transferred to the title for which it is swapped?
No, the three-year automatic ongoing access applies only to individual titles that have been subscribed to for a period of three consecutive years. If you swap out a title you have subscribed to for two years, there is no credit for the swapped-in title ? or for that same title, should you pick it up again a year later.

  9. Under the Flexi-Subscription option, can I subscribe to both an old edition and a new edition of the same title?
Yes. But these will be treated as two separate titles.

  10. Under the Flexi-Subscription option, can I swap in a new edition of the same title and have credit?
No - new editions are treated as a new title (as with print).

  11. Can I operate both options at the same time (One-Time Fee and Flexi-Subscription)?
Yes ? but the conditions of each option will always apply to the titles selected for each. For instance, you will not be able to swap out titles selected for one-time purchase or vice versa.

  12. Are all the same titles that were available in the old collections available under the new model?
All the same titles are available in the One-Time option. Most of the same titles are offered in the Flexi-Subscription option, with the exception of a few of the substantially larger works, which are offered via the One-Time Fee only.

  13. Why are certain titles offered only under the One-Time option?
These are important works to which Wiley knows its customers want access, but due to their being significantly higher in list price than other titles, Wiley can only offer them via one-time pricing. These titles constitute only a small proportion of the total offering (less than four percent).

  14. What happened to the old collections-based sales model?
This is no longer offered. Titles are still grouped online according to subject collections to help guide purchasing decisions. Of course, if you wish you can purchase or subscribe to all works in a subject collection under the terms of the new options available.

  15. Is consortium pricing for OnlineBooks available?
Please consult your local EBSCO sales representative for more information.

  16. What software do I need to read OnlineBooks?
OnlineBooks are in PDF format so the only software needed is Adobe® Acrobat Reader, which is freely available at the Adobe Web site: www.adobe.com .

  17. How do I search for an OnlineBook?
OnlineBooks can be browsed by in alphabetical listing or subject listing from the Wiley InterScience homepage. You may also find chapters of interest by conducting a search in Wiley InterScience, with results presented at the chapter level.

Full-text chapters may be viewed or downloaded as PDF documents. Chapter summaries, including keywords, abstract and author details, are provided for each chapter. You can search for a term in a single book, similar books or all OnlineBooks, and have results display by chapter.

  18. Why are OnlineBooks separated into chapters?
OnlineBooks are separated into chapters to provide better search results and to facilitate faster downloading of an OnlineBook. Each chapter features a chapter summary giving keyword information about the contents of the chapter.

  19. How many users can access the book at the same time?
There are no restrictions on the number of readers.

  20. Can I save or print OnlineBooks?
Yes, authorized users may print out single copies of individual articles, chapters or entries for their own personal use, scholarly, educational or scientific research, or internal business use. The licensee’s library staff may print out and send single paper copies of articles, chapters or entries from the OnlineBooks for interlibrary loan.

  21. Does Wiley offer print and electronic bundling for these titles?
Not at this time. Wiley will be reviewing this decision in the near future.

  22. Can I use ArticleSelect tokens for book chapters?
    Yes.

  23. For global organizations, is the price based on total global FTE counts or can it be restricted to the R&D Group?
It will follow current Wiley InterScience FTE practices, which is based on global FTEs. However if a local branch of a global organization wants to license OnlineBooks and they have a discreet IP range, Wiley will use their local FTE count for pricing.

  24. Are MARC records available for all titles?
Yes, MARC records are available via OCLC. OCLC members will probably be familiar with obtaining MARC records under the terms of their agreement. Non-members can also obtain them, at a cost, from OCLC. The Wiley Account Managers will be happy to assist if necessary.

For technical queries on MARC records, contact Wiley Tech Support, 1-866-465-3817 (inside U.S.) or 1-201-748-6645 (outside U.S.).

  25. Will I be given usage statistics?
Yes, COUNTER-compliant usage statistics can be viewed in the Customer Administrators area of Wiley InterScience.

  26. How is access to Wiley InterScience given?
Institutional access is typically based on IP address.

  27. How will I be advised of all front-list titles for the year?
Your local EBSCO sales representative can assist you with this.
